EXFO

EXFO is a leading provider of test and service assurance solutions for network operators and equipment manufacturers in the global telecommunications industry. The Telecom Division, which accounts for almost 90% of the company’s revenues, offers a wide range of innovative solutions to assess optical networks, from the core to access, as well as next-generation IP infrastructures and related triple-play services. The Life Sciences and Industrial Division offers solutions in medical device and opto-electronics assembly, fluorescence microscopy and other life science sectors.

  Awards and Recognitions

Contrary to most of its peers, when the 2001 telecommunications downturn struck, EXFO opted to maintain its focus on innovation—which has largely contributed to increasing EXFO's leadership position in its industry. This enabled the company to develop test solutions for emerging technologies such as fiber-to-the-premises (FTTx) and next-generation IP networking, and to continue to anticipate customer needs.

This visionary strategy did not go unnoticed, as EXFO received several awards and recognitions in the last few months. Here is an overview of these awards and recognitions:

 

April 2009

  • EXFO Receives xDSL Test Equipment Product Line Strategy Award

The award is presented to the test company that has optimized its product line by leveraging products with the various price, performance and feature points required by the market.

March 2009

  •   EXFO Receives Growth Strategy Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan for Fifth Consecutive Time

The award is presented annually to the company whose growth strategy generates the largest market-share gains in the global fiber-optic test equipment (FOTE) market during the previous calendar year.


July 2008

  • EXFO Receives Product Line Strategy Award from Frost & Sullivan

This award is presented each year to a company that has demonstrated the most insight into the needs and product demands of its customers. The recipient company has optimized its product line by leveraging products with the various price, performance, and feature points required by one or more market segments.

EXFO has been presented with the award for aligning its product portfolio with the most important trends in the worldwide SONET/SDH test equipment market; more specifically, multiservice transport.

April 2008

  • EXFO Products Recognized by Broadband Gear Report

For the third year in a row, EXFO products ranked high in Broadband Gear Report’s (BGR) Diamond Technology Reviews. This year, our FTB-5700 Single-Ended Dispersion Analyzer as well as our FTB-8120NGE (2.5/2.7 Gbit/s) and FTB-8130NGE (10/10.7 Gbit/s) Power Blazer test modules received a 4.0 Diamonds rating from the BGR Review Panel. These products are considered outstanding and reflect a very positive opinion from the panel.

  •   EXFO Receives Technology Innovation Award from Frost & Sullivan

The award is presented to the company who has successfully developed and introduced new, leading-edge technologies, formulated a well-designed product family and made significant product performance contributions to the industry.

EXFO received this award based on two of its Gigabit Ethernet solutions: the handheld AXS-200/850 Ethernet Test Set and the FTB-8120NGE/8130NGE Power Blazer Next-Generation Multiservice Test Modules that support all rates up to 10 Gbit/s.

  • EXFO Receives Growth Strategy Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan for Fourth Consecutive Year

The award is presented annually to the company whose growth strategy generates the largest market-share gains in the global fiber-optic test equipment (FOTE) market during the previous calendar year.
EXFO Receives Global Market Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan

The award is given to the company that has exhibited market share leadership through the implementation of market strategy. EXFO received this award in the OTDR and OLTS segments of the fiber-optic test equipment market.

April 2007

  • EXFO Products Recognized by Broadband Gear Report

We are pleased to announce that, for the second year in a row, EXFO products ranked high in Broadband Gear Reports (BGR) Diamond Technology Reviews. This year, our FTB-5240B Optical Spectrum Analyzer as well as our Packet Blazer combo (FTB-8510B/FTB-8510G within our FTB-200 platform) both received a 4.0 Diamond rating from the BGR Review Panel, whose judges were quite impressed with our products features and benefits.

All products entered in the 2007 Diamond Technology Reviews are reviewed by at least three of five judges, and the score is an average of the three scores, as determined by those judges. Because of the high score obtained by our OSA and Packet Blazer, BGR will also feature these products in their annual Product News at the SCTE Cable-Tec EXPO in June.

October 2006

  • EXFO Expert Awarded by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

Marc Breton, Ph.D, Metrology Specialist at EXFO, will be presented with the prestigious International Electrotechnical Commissions 1906 Award at a ceremony in October. This annual award, established in commemoration of the founding of the IEC in 1906, honors technical experts around the world whose work is fundamental to the advancement of international standards. Last year, Andr Girard, Ph.D., Senior Member of the Technical Staff at EXFO, was a recipient of this same prize. 

The conferring of this honor to an EXFO staff member, for a second consecutive year, is a tribute both to the companys internal technical excellence and to its reputation for expertise in the telecom industry.

June 2006

  • EXFO Receives Product Differentiation Innovation Award

This prestigious award is presented annually to the telecommunications test and measurement company who best demonstrates the ability to develop products with successful adoption of new or existing technologies that have become a part of its well-designed product family. Such innovation is expected to significantly contribute to the industry in terms of product performance and degree/rate of technical change. 

EXFO received this award based on its new portfolio of protocol test solutions for next-generation and traditional SONET/SDH networks.

  • EXFO awarded 4 Diamonds by Broadband Gear Reports Second Annual Diamond Technology Review

Broadband Gear Reports Second Annual Diamond Technology Review Panel has awarded EXFO the prestigious 4-Diamond score for the FTB-8120/8130 Transport Blazer Next-Gen SONET/SDH Test Module series. The panel, comprised of distinguished industry experts, was impressed by the compact design and extensive functionality that the Transport Blazer Test Modules offer. After complete evaluation, the judges concluded that the FTB-8120/8130 module series demonstrated technical features and performance that provide clear and substantial benefits.

  • EXFO Expert Awarded by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

Dr. André Girard, Senior Member of EXFO's technical staff, has been presented with the IEC's prestigious 1906 Award. This annual award was established in commemoration of the IEC's year of foundation and honours technical experts from around the world whose work is fundamental to the IEC.

The IEC prepares and publishes international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies. These serve as a basis for national standardization and as references when drafting international tenders and contracts.

Mr. Girard serves on the IEC Subcommittee 86B, Fibre Optics—Fibre Optic Interconnecting Devices and Passive Components.

  • 2004 and 2005 Frost & Sullivan Growth Strategy Award

Frost & Sullivan, the telecom industry's leading market research expert, named EXFO recipient of the Growth Strategy Leadership Award in both 2004 and 2005. In 2004, EXFO increased its market share by 22.6% within the fiber-optic test and measurement marketa figure that reaches 60.9% dating back to the industry downturn of 2001 (from 6.4% of the worldwide fiber-optic T&M market in 2001 to 10.4% in 2004, which gives EXFO the second place overall in this market), the single largest gain among its peer group.

  •   Lightwave Magazine Established EXFOs 2nd Place Overall in the Global Fiber-Optic Test Equipment Market

From a market/product perspective, this major industry magazine has also recognized EXFO's leadership in the FTTx testing market, acknowledging the breadth of its product offering, as well as the quality of its next-generation SONET/SDH analyzer for data-centric IP networks, its VoIP-ready Gigabit Ethernet test solutions and its optical spectrum analyzer optimized for CWDM applications in metro and access networks.
